About Crime Prevention HQ
Welcome to your headquarters for crime prevention training resources. This website started out as an easy way for me to share some of the multimedia resources that I bring when I am an instructor for the Office of the Attorney General of Florida’s Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute and the National Institute of Crime Prevention. It saved me from having to remember to put all of the videos, links, PDFs and other materials on a flash drive to share with students. Over time, it has evolved into an easy way for me to share even more of the tips, news, and tools that I dig up without having to wait until the next scheduled class to do so.
About me
For more than 35 years, my job was law enforcement with the last half of my career dedicated to crime prevention. As a crime prevention officer for my agency, I was always on the lookout for new and innovative methods and programs to share the crime prevention message. As I find these resources, I love to share them with other crime prevention officers and volunteers. Thus, this website to share these discoveries.
As I travel around the state teaching these very topics, I find other crime prevention people asking the very same questions: How do we prevent identity theft? How do we keep people safe online? How can we teach others to recognize online scams? How can Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) keep my community safe?
Over the last few years, my focus has slowly shifted from physical security (What locks should I put on my doors?) to internet security (What locks should I put on my computer?) to Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. I am passionate about helping you communicate with your communities. The more people we can reach, the more effective we can be in our mission.
When not teaching crime prevention, I am the associate pastor for my church and enjoy living life with my family.

I also hold the CPD (CPTED Professional Designation) from the National Institute of Crime Prevention.
